Introduction

The Festival is recognized by FIAPF as Competitive Specialized Feature Film Festival for the Police and Mystery Films section. The Festival's main aim is the promotion and diffusion of the noir genre in its various forms (crime story, suspense, thriller, horror, fantasy, spy story, whodunit...) in Italy and throughout the world, by presenting previews (in and out of competition), retrospectives, meetings, exhibits, and so forth.

Noir literature is celebrated by the best crime writers from all over the world, presenting to the audience their last works but also by the prestigious Raymond Chandler Award for life achievement to a great International maestro, and the Giorgio Scerbanenco Award  to the best Italian crime novel of the year.

International panels and workshops complete a wide range examination of our contemporary society and its problems which is one of the main theme of the noir genre. These are just few of the many reasons why in 2007 Variety has included the festival in the list of the 50 Unmissable Events worldwide.
